Yesterday afternoon, our co-founder Richard Barnard was arrested for “blackmail” and taken to Fresh Wharf Custody Base in Barking, East London. Richard and our other co-founder Huda Ammori had their home raided and their passports seized.Join us outside Fresh Wharf Custody Base from 7am to protest the continued pattern of police harassment and intimidation against human rights activists. If you are able, please head down to Unit 24, Muirhead Quay, Quay Rd, Barking IG11 7BG.
Richard’s arrest comes two days after we shut down Elbit-Ferranti in Oldham for 16 hours on Monday with our comrades from XR North. The action - which allegedly cost the company £20,000 of damage - marked six months since our inception, and coincided with news that the Ministry of Defence handed Elbit a £102 million contract for new "sensor to shoot" systems.
Police have previously raided the homes of numerous activists allegedly linked to Palestine Action and seized their devices in a continued pattern of harassment and intimidation against our members. Richard and Huda were also stopped under Schedule 7 of the Terrorism Act 2000, which enables police officers to interrogate individuals for prolonged periods of time without the standard safeguards.
Please join us outside Fresh Wharf Custody Base, Unit 24, Muirhead Quay, Quay Rd, Barking IG11 7BG. If possible, become a monthly donor to help build the resistance to end complicity with Israeli apartheid.
Together, we will resist and we will win.
