Join Freedy Johnston for an evening of conversation, and song, with special guest, Warren Zanes. They will discuss the newly released film “Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere,” based on Warren’s book, and perform a few songs.
Doors open at 7:30pm. Please arrive by 7:50pm. Seating is limited, so sign up early. We'll be passing the hat and Warren's books will be available for purchase.
Freedy Johnson is a singer-songwriter, Originally from Kansas, a town 1,561 miles from both New York and San Fransisco. He moved to New York in the 1980’s, and worked as an office temp for a few years before landing a deal with Bar None Records in Hoboken. His second record for them in 1992 was his breakthrough album "Can You Fly". He then signed to Elektra Records, and in 1994 worked with producer ButchVigon the record "This Perfect World," which featured the radio hit “Bad Reputation,” and earned him Rolling Stones’s Songwriter of the Year award for 1994. His songs were featured in the movies “Kingpin,” “Kicking and Screaming”, and “Heavy.” His most recent album is On the Road to You, released in 2022 on 40 Below Records. Dr. Warren Zanes is a New York Times bestselling author & Gramy-nominated documentary producer. His books include Dusty in Memphis, Petty: The Biography, and Deliver Me from Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska, the basis for the 20th Century Studios film starring Jeremy Allen White. A former member of The Del Fuegos, Warren has released four solo recordings. He was a consulting producer on the Oscar-winning Twenty Feet from Stardom, a producer on the Grammy-nominated PBS series Soundbreaking, and, most recently, directed, performed in and wrote his own PBS special focused on Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska, featuring Lucinda Williams, Noah Kahan, Emmylou Harris, the Lumineers, Lyle Lovett and Eric Church.
