Freedom's Verse: From Pain to Power, Honoring Black Masculinity & Healing is a poetry event, hosted by health educator, advocate, and poet Asheena Burke that celebrates and honors the resilience and strength of black men while raising awareness about men's health issues. The event is held in June, which is Men's Health Month and also marks Juneteenth, a day that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States.

The event features spoken word artists Da Falcon and TLK, while showcasing a diverse array of other spoken word artists, poets, and performers, who will use their craft to address the challenges and triumphs of black masculinity. Through their words, they will explore the intersectionality of race, gender, and health, while providing a platform for self-expression and healing.

Freedom's Verse: From Pain to Power, Honoring Black Masculinity & Healing aims to promote the importance of men's health and wellness, particularly in communities of color, where disparities in healthcare access and outcomes persist. Life coach, relationship coach, and speaker Artist Anderson offers an inclusive space for honest and open dialogue, as well as offers ways to empower men to take charge of their health, seek out resources, and prioritize self-care. Additionally, the event recognizes the historical and ongoing struggle for black liberation and the role that poetry has played in documenting, commemorating, and mobilizing for change. By centering black voices and experiences this event amplifies the power of art as a tool for resistance and transformation.
