At just 13 years old Watkins was arrested and sent to Mississippi's notorious Parchman State Penitentiary.Mistaken for a Freedom Rider, he was placed on death row for several days before being released. This experience didn't silence him; instead, it sparked a lifelong commitment to justice. He went on to be arrested more than 100 times in his pursuit of equality.
