Freedom & Form - 3 Day Contact Improv Workshop

A 3-Day workshop focuses on essential principles and skills useful to moving freely and creatively in space and with each other.
Christina weaves components of Aikido into the flow of Contact Improvisation.
There will be elements of floor work and understanding how the ground can be a friend, how to release weight without edging or being heavy.
We will also look at principles of non-resistance and flowing with forces inspired by both Aikido and Contact that will allow for dynamic and effortless movement.
And combining the grounded connection with flow to open up space for creative compositional work in groups and with space.

There are many definitions of contact improvisation and not one that captures it fully. But here is one I like:
"Contact Improvisation is an open-ended exploration of the kinaesthetic possibilities of bodies moving through contact. Sometimes wild and athletic, sometimes quiet and meditative, it is a form open to all bodies and enquiring minds."

𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗮:
Christina is a certified Embodiment Coach and Facilitator with a background in Aikido and a multitude of other movement and somatic practices, breath work, meditation and more that shape her approach to life, relationships and dance.
Contact Improv has been her passion for 10 years and she started sharing classes and workshops since 2020. She loves weaving her psycho-somatic and philosophical interests into embodied explorations in a playful way.
