A 3-Day workshop focuses on essential principles and skills useful to moving freely and creatively in space and with each other.
Christina weaves components of Aikido into the flow of Contact Improvisation.
There will be elements of floor work and understanding how the ground can be a friend, how to release weight without edging or being heavy.
We will also look at principles of non-resistance and flowing with forces inspired by both Aikido and Contact that will allow for dynamic and effortless movement.
And combining the grounded connection with flow to open up space for creative compositional work in groups and with space.

There is so many definitions of contact improvisation and also it is kind of states that there is not one which captures what it is. I want to share what Ray Chung said Contact improvisation is for as I resonate with his description a lot ๐
"Contact Improvisation is an open-ended exploration of the kinaesthetic possibilities of bodies moving through contact. Sometimes wild and athletic, sometimes quiet and meditative, it is a form open to all bodies and enquiring minds."

Christina is a certified embodiment facilitator and coach with a passion for blending movement and psychology. She co-leads a coaching certification program, teaching somatic techniques to hundreds of aspiring coaches.
With a black belt in Aikido under 6th Dan Patrick Cassidy, her martial arts background has profoundly shaped her approach to life, relationships, and conflict, offering deep insights into self-awareness and connection.
She discovered contact improvisation 10 years ago and over the last few years has started to share classes and workshops worldwide. She often brings a lens of embodiment or infuses the dance with her Aikido or psychosomatic background.
