This training is available to Stevenage residents, funded by Hertfordshire Community Foundation and Stevenage Community Trust.
Starting on the 18th of April 2024, we are offering just 15 places on this free 6-week course, delivered both in-person (at Hampson Park Community Centre) and also online
Who Should Apply:
The ideal applicant would be someone who is either:
- care-experienced,
- at risk of homelessness,
- or is a young parent.

If you do not fit the above criteria but are aged 18-25 please do get in touch as we may be able to include you.
During the course, participants will be taken through the different aspects of youth work. Topics covered:
- How to become an effective session worker and working young people
- Professional boundaries, dealing with sensitive issues and safeguarding: disclosures and scenarios
- Communication skills, IT skills and engaging with young people
- Unconscious bias training and impromptu creativity
- Working for a charity, how to maintain engagement and what’s trending?
- Confidentiality, safeguarding and health & safety

Having completed the course modules, attendees will be invited to interview to be employed as a sessional youth worker by The Gifted Charity, on a fixed-term contract.
