Yin yoga is a quiet contemplative practice, done seated or lying down, with passive, longer-held poses. We use props like bolsters, blocks, blankets, straps and/or weighted rice bags for support and to help relax muscles, targeting the deeper connective tissues: ligaments, joints, bones, and fascia. Yin offers physical benefits, like lengthening and unwinding tight spots, increasing circulation, reducing swelling and pain, and improving range of motion. It also offers mental and psychological benefits, helping to move us away from stress and anxiety, towards feeling calmer and more grounded.
All of our classes are suitable for beginners to advanced levels and multiple options will be cued. Please check with your doctor and make sure yoga is safe for your body. Wear comfortable clothes that you can easily stretch and move in. Yoga mats and props are available to borrow. Bring your own water bottle.
