The Schedule

-NEW-

4:30 - 7 PM: PHYSIOTHERAPY 1:1 SESSION with Dr. Lester and Team [30 minute slots]

These 30 minute physiotherapy private sessions are for individuals who are currently experiencing pain and movement issues. Each session will involve an assessment to determine the nature of the problem and then a combination of education, manual therapy and exercise will be advised as treatment.

The physiotherapy team will consist of a student physiotherapist and their supervisor, Dr Lester Jones. Lester is an experienced Australian physiotherapist with post-graduate studies in pain management and in Singapore, he has been teaching on the physiotherapy program at Singapore Institute of Technology since July 2018. He is also a certified TRE provider and has completed Module 1 and 2 of Natalia Rachel’s Trauma Informed Relational Somatics training at Illuma Health.

Screening sessions will be offered once a month and where more intensive treatment is required, referral to other therapists will be arranged.

4:30 - 5:30 PM: HATHA YOGA GROUP CLASS

In this gentle hatha yoga class, yoga is made accessible and available to all women, whether returning to yoga after some time away or as a first timer. This class is for you to take time for yourself, restore faith in the power and strength of your body and mind, and feel good along the way.

5:30 - 6:30 PM: YIN YOGA GROUP CLASS

Yin Yoga is a meditative practice of holding passive stretches for 2 to 4 minutes in seated or lying down yoga poses. It promotes relaxation and improves joint health and flexibility.

-NEW-

6:30 - 7:30 PM: SOUND MEDITATION GROUP CLASS

Sound is a powerful tool for relaxation. In this class, you will listen to the healing sounds of live instruments such as Tibetan bowls, crystal bowls, chimes, handpans and drums, together with a guided meditation to bring you into a relaxed state. The intention of this class is to support stress relief and inner peace by connecting to the breath and sound as a source of self-regulation.

About the Programme

This well-being programme for Domestic Helpers was started by Julia Vasko and Dr. Amy Hawthorne at SamataSoul in September 2020 and has been an on-going monthly programme since.
As SamataSoul closed its physical doors in December 2023, Julia is now curating and managing the programme independently to continue to support the community built by SamataSoul over the last few years. The programme will now be hosted at spaces throughout Singapore on a donation basis.
Julia Vasko is a trauma-informed somatic touch practitioner, embodiment facilitator, art curator and creative guide. Her work intersects in the creation of safe spaces for expression and connection: where stories are told, where emotions are felt, and where transformation and healing happen. She was previously a manager and art curator at SamataSoul.
