Got any old "box" "tube" "CRT" style TVs / televisions / monitors that you want to recycle for FREE? We are hosting a 1-day drive-up / drop-off donation collection day for old working TVs and/or computer monitors.
As you know, most donation centers do not accept these heavy tube TVs, and most public recycle centers charge you a fee to drop them off. Waste management centers do not accept them at all.
Time and Space at Monroeville Mall is collecting older style televisions to get a new life in the collector world. No need to pollute the earth with old TV sets, when there are fans of old tech that want to put these back to use.
Dropping off is simple:
1. Must be working sets with CRT type displays (glass picture tube) and can be any size. (We will also accept working VCRs and outdated computers). Please include remote controls if available.
2. Drive to Monroeville Mall - back side of mall between movie theater and Dicks - across from Going, Going Gone. Look for marked door entrance in loading dock area. Drive right up to our back door, do not bring the sets in through the main mall entrance at all. We will meet you there and assist to unload onto carts.
3. Drive away empty handed, free of the burden of storing an old heavy set.
A few things to keep in mind:
- these are to be reused and given new life for fans of old technology. Thus we can only accept working units. We are not recycling the pieces and metals, or discarded them in landfills, but rather cleaning them up and pairing them with appropriate technology such as VCRs, video players and old gaming systems. Reducing landfills and reusing old technology is much better for the environment than other forms of recycling or trash disposal methods.
- must be proper CRT direct view tube sets, no projection sets or plasma screen sets.
- we reserve to right to reject a donation that is not in line with this style of set or if the condition and cleanliness of the set is unacceptable for reuse.
