Unlike strays, which are lost or abandoned pets seeking human interaction, feral cats are typically wary of people and prefer to avoid them.
Feral cats often form colonies and rely on scraps or minimal shelter to survive. Without intervention, their average lifespan is only about 2 years due to disease, predators, and harsh living conditions. However, with proper care and Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), these cats can live healthier, longer livesโoften 10 years or more!

TNR is the most humane and effective way to manage outdoor cat populations. By spaying or neutering feral cats, TNR stops the endless cycle of breeding and dramatically reduces the number of kittens born into a life of hardship. It also minimizes nuisance behaviors such as yowling, spraying, and fighting, improving the coexistence between cats and the community.
Aside from improving their quality of life and extending their lifespan, TNR plays a critical role in reducing shelter overcrowding and euthanasia rates. By keeping cats and their potential offspring out of the shelter system, TNR allows limited shelter resources to be directed toward adoptable animals.
