Local dermatologists and Centra Alan B. PearsonRegional Cancer Center are offering free skin cancer
screenings to our community. Skin cancer is the most
common of all cancers. When detected early and
treated properly, even melanoma, the most serious
type of skin cancer, is curable.
More than one million cases of highly curable basal
cell or squamous cell skin cancer will be diagnosed in
the United States this year, according to the American
Cancer Society.
Screenings will be conducted in private rooms by
a dermatologist or other healthcare professional
specially trained in detecting skin cancer.
This screening is available to anyone who does NOT
have a dermatologist or who has not had a skin cancer
screening in the last year. Space is limited.
Other free cancer screenings will be available on site.
To register, call Emily Donald at 434.200.1401.
One of the best ways to catch skin cancer early is through
regular screenings. T
he screenings are being sponsored
by Centra Alan B. Pearson Regional Cancer Center
and local dermatologists.
