Join award-winning Scottish folk singer Iona Fyfe for a free Scots singing workshop at this year’s Check It Oot! Festival, North Lanarkshire's first ever Scots language book festival, produced in partnership with Hands Up For Trad!
The workshop will welcome people of all ages and abilities, delving into the history and significance of Scots song, providing practical singing experience, whilst exploring the beauty of the Scots language.

Iona Fyfe is one of Scotland’s finest young folk singers, rooted deeply in the singing traditions of Scotland. The first singer to win the coveted title of Musician of the Year at the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards 2021, Iona has been described as “one of the best Scotland has to offer.” Iona is a fierce advocate for the official recognition of the Scots Language, winning the title of Scots Speaker of the Year at the Scots Language Awards.
