About this Event
Welcome to the Free Screening of "Vanishing Voices: Saving Our Hawaiian Forest Birds" Documentary event! Join us at the Kauai Community College Performance Arts Center for an evening of education and awareness about the importance of preserving Hawaiian forest birds. This in-person event will showcase two short films that shed light on the challenges these birds face and the efforts being made to protect them.
The featured films are: "Paying Homage to the Last 'Akikiki In the Wild" (8 min)
"Vanishing Voices: Saving Our Hawaiian Forest Birds" (30 min)
These films will run back to back and will be followed by a panel of conservationists working in Kaua'i to save these amazing bird species. The audience will have the opportunity to ask questions, hear field stories from scientists, and learn more about the endangered honeycreepers that call Kaua'i home.
Outreach tables with more information and swag will be set up in the lobby, run by the Kaua'i Forest Bird Recovery Project and Birds, Not Mosquitoes.
Doors open at 6, films begin around 6:30, with the panel following after. Doors will remain open until 9 pm for outreach tables.
Don't miss this opportunity to learn more about these unique and endangered species. See you there!
