The New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) and New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) will be offering up to 100 free water tests for private wells serving homes not connected to a water utility in San Juan County and surrounding communities.Location:

• pH
• Nitrate
• Iron
• Sulfate
• Fluoride
• Arsenic
• Electrical conductivity
How to collect a water sample:
1. Fill a clean glass or plastic container with at least a quart (or
32 oz.) of your well water.
2. If the home has a whole house filtration system, collect the
water as the well head prior to any filtration or softener
systems, if possible.
3. Let the water run 2-3 minutes before collecting the sample.
4. Collect the sample as close to the time of testing as possible.
