Join the Kosair For Kids Face It Movement for a FREE training on Pediatric Abusive Head Trauma prevention and recognition and the TEN-4-FACESp Bruising Rule with Dr. Melissa Currie, Child Abuse Pediatrician at the University of Louisville Department of Pediatrics.Pediatric abusive head trauma (AHT), or shaken baby syndrome, is a severe form of child abuse that most often involves infants. In these Pediatric Abusive Head Trauma Prevention & Recognition trainings, participants will learn the early signs of maltreatment and the various injuries and conditions that may result from vigorous shaking, slamming, or impacting the head of an infant or young child. They will also be provided tools for dealing with a crying infant and ways to share information with parents to prevent abuse from occurring.
Training objectives are to explain the statistics of abusive head trauma; to describe and explain abusive head trauma and its associated injuries; to discuss risk factors and prevention, and to describe the outcomes for victims.
CEUs approved for CHW (Community Health Workers), Dental, EMS, ECE, FRYSC, Nursing, and Social Work.
