Spring is here…! Join us each and every Saturday at the Trailside Nature Center for a variety of nature themed programming. All free – and FUN! All programs either meet, or take place at the Trailside Nature Center. All programs are from 1-2 pm and meet at Trailside Nature Center unless stated otherwise.April:
April 6th – Solar Eclipse Preview
Join Cincinnati Parks Staff for a total solar eclipse preview. The total solar eclipse is happening on Monday, April 8th and has not happened in Ohio since 1806! We will be discussing the science of a total eclipse, what to expect, best viewing spots and safe viewing practices.
April 13th – Wildflower Walk
Burnet Woods is home to a wonderful variety of spring wildflowers. With the recent volunteer led efforts to remove the invasive honeysuckle from the park – we are excited to see what more may be in bloom. From their early folklore to some of their more interesting reproductive strategies, we’ll learn about the fascinating world of these living jewels. Meet in front of the Trailside Nature Center.
April 20th – Spring Fest (10:00am - 2:00pm)
Come celebrate spring at Spring Fest in Burnet Woods. Learn how Parks and Preserves provide vital habitat for local wildlife and meet our Eastern Box Turtle and American Toad. Spring Fest activities sponsored by UC Students for Burnet Woods.
April 27th – Garden Craft
Water is vital to the survival of any organism on Earth. Join us in making a butterfly water dish for your garden. The water dish will provide butterfly visitors with a place to rest up and grab a drink. Decorative cocktail umbrellas not included!

May 4th – Tour Trailside *150th Celebration Event*
In honor of the 150th anniversary of Burnet Woods come tour Trailside Nature Center formally known as Trailside Museum. We will have the building open, historical photos on display and be available to answer questions about this historic site!
May 11th – Planet Walk
Space… the final frontier! Have you ever wished to visit the other planets in our solar system? Well, now’s your chance. Join us for a guided walk along Burnet Woods scale model, planet walk. We’ll take a tour of the solar system as if it were only 1 mile in length… and stop along the way at each planet to learn fascinating facts.
May 18th – Kids to Parks Day / * Noon – 3:00pm
Come celebrate Kids to Parks Day in Burnet Woods! The Camping and Education Foundation will be providing canoeing on the lake. Hit the woods for a self-guided nature scavenger hunt to celebrate Burnet Woods 150th Anniversary – and be sure to check out Trailside for an in-depth look at the local wildlife that calls Burnet Woods home.
May 25th – Story Time + Meet a Turtle
Bring your wild ones to Trailside for story time at the nature center! We’ll gather in the Nature Library for a story about turtles followed by a meet and greet with our own Eastern Box Turtle. A fascinating look at one of our most accessible wild animals!
