Scott's Full Bio:
Scott Stisser grew up in Pleasanton, California, and began fly tying and fly fishing in 1972 while still a junior in high school. His early development was shaped by mentorship from the legendary Andrey Puyans of Creative Sports Enterprises, whose influence continues to guide Scott’s approach to fly design and technique.
Scott’s work has been featured in several well-known fly-fishing publications, including Modern Midges and Modern Terrestrials by Rick Takahashi, Classic Salmon Fly Patterns by Mike Radencich, and Rocky Mountain National Park by Steve Schweitzer. Over the years, he has tied and instructed alongside respected fly tiers such as Andrey Puyans, Marvin Nolte, John Betts, and Wayne Luallen.
An Umpqua Fly Designer, Scott is the creator of the “Hot Mess Midge,” with additional designs currently in development. While he enjoys tying flies for trout and bass, his greatest passion is classic Atlantic Salmon fly tying. This traditional art form continually challenges his understanding of materials, proportion, and technique, and it strongly influences the precision and thought process behind all of his flies.
Scott is dedicated to sharing both knowledge and creative approach to help others grow as fly tiers and anglers. He looks forward to connecting with the fly-fishing community and passing on the craft he has pursued for more than five decades
I look forward to meeting you on Saturday January, 2026!
