About this Event
This is a joint FREE workshop! Whether you have kauri on your property or are a Kaipātiki resident or volunteer that would like to learn more about protecting kauri trees, this is the workshop for you!
The kauri care for homeowners section of the workshop will start at 10:00, and will go for about 1 hour. This training is great if you have kauri on your property or if you are simply interested in how the disease works.
The workshop will also give you the ability to formulate your own plans for dealing with the spread of kauri dieback, and maintaining the health and safety of our precious kauri trees.
The kauri dieback certification section of the workshop will run from 11:00 pm to 1:00 pm.
This part of the workshop is focused on upskilling volunteers and residents within Kaipātiki, and sharing how to look after kauri trees while conducting pest control or restoration work such as weeding, predator control or planting. If you are a Kaipātiki resident or volunteer who wants to safely continue your work in areas with kauri, this is the workshop for you!
Sponsored by the Auckland Council Kauri Dieback team, this part of the training is aimed at reserve volunteers (or those who are thinking of volunteering in a reserve). The certification will allow you to enter the reserve in the case of kauri dieback closures.
If you only wish to come for the kauri care for homeowners workshop, you may leave before the kauri dieback certification workshop begins. If you are interested in the certification workshop, we strongly advise you attend both workshops.
