First class is free to participate! Karate class with JKA Karate Club of Mississauga! For ages 6+ and no experience needed. We practice Shotokan Karate and taught by the Japanese Karate Association (JKA).
We teach the pillars of karate: kihon (basics), kata (forms), and kumite (sparring). We focus on the traditional aspects of karate follow values of hardwork, discipline, focus and commitment. There will also be complementary physical activity such as running, stretching, pushups, situps, etc. We also do self-defense applications of karate techniques.
We are a Registered Community Group affiliated with the City of Mississauga. Our instructors previously taught karate programs under the City of Mississauga in the following community centres: Frank McKechnie, South Common, Mississauga Valley, Meadowvale, and Burnhamthorpe.
The instructors include sensei's: Fidel, Francis, Luigi, Rafik, Thomas and Katie. All have been teaching karate for several years and have competed at multiple levels: locally, nationally and internationally. We have experience teaching all ages and skill levels.
* **Classes are on Thursday's May 2 and 16 from 8:00pm to 9:15pm and May 7, 21 and 28 from 7:30pm to 8:45pm in the conference room.
No uniforms required and class is done barefoot. Please wear comfortable clothing that is neither too baggy nor too tight. No skirts or tube tops. Feel free to bring a water bottle.
Join us by registering here and getting your ticket. One ticket per attendee. If observing, no ticket required. If you've trained with us before it's only $20 to attend the class. Payment can be made at the door.
