About this Event
This course introduces students to the techniques and concepts of mixed media art. Students will explore various materials and processes, encouraging creativity and experimentation. Through hands-on projects, discussions, and critiques, students will develop their artistic voice and understanding of mixed media as a contemporary art form.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a 8 weeks program. Classes will be held on Mondays at 6PM.

Course Objectives:
- Understand the principles and elements of mixed media art.
- Explore a variety of materials and techniques.
- Develop skills in composition, color theory, and texture.
- Cultivate an individual artistic style and voice.
- Engage in constructive critiques and discussions.
Materials Required:
- Sketchbook
- Variety of papers (watercolor, cardstock, etc.)
- Acrylic paints and brushes
- Collage materials (magazines, newspapers, fabric, etc.)
- Adhesives (glue, gel medium)
- Found objects (personal items, natural materials)
- Tools (scissors, craft knife, palette)

Weekly Topics and Assignments:
Week 1: Introduction to Mixed Media
- Overview of mixed media art
- Discussion of famous mixed media artists
- Assignment: Create a personal collage using found materials
Week 2: Basic Techniques
- Introduction to layering and texture
- Experimentation with different adhesives
- Assignment: Create a textured sample board
Week 3: Color and Composition
- Color theory basics
- Composition techniques in mixed media
- Assignment: Create a color wheel using mixed media
Week 4: Painting with Mixed Media
- Incorporating paint into mixed media
- Techniques for layering paint and other materials
- Assignment: Create a mixed media painting
Week 5: Drawing and Mark-Making
- Explore drawing techniques in mixed media
- Use of charcoal, ink, and pastels
- Assignment: Create a mixed media drawing
Week 6: Found Objects and Assemblage
- Exploring the use of found objects
- Techniques for assembling mixed media works
- Assignment: Create an assemblage using found objects
Week 7: Personal Projects
- Work on individual mixed media projects
- One-on-one consultations with the instructor
Week 8: Final Project, eGroup Critique and Feedback
- Present personal projects for critique
- Discuss strengths and areas for improvement
- Create a final mixed media artwork
- Prepare for final presentation and critique
