ShaLeigh Dance Works is thrilled to share an informal excerpt of our newest immersive interdisciplinary performance that relies not on sight or sound but on the felt sense of sonic experiences and visual perceptions. enVISION: The Next Chapter will officially premiere at The Fruit July 19-21 & 26-28, 2024 as part of the American Dance Festival’s 91st season! In a collective creative process, the work has brought together a team of collaborators around two questions: Can we listen to what we see? Can we see what we hear? This informal and low tech excerpt works to be accessible to individuals who are low vision and blind, low hearing and deaf, as well as to the general public who can choose to experience the excerpt blindfolded or in earbuds. The excerpt will be followed by a post performance chat with the Artistic Team. The chat back is designed to be an opportunity to engage in rich conversations to exchange ideas, challenges, practices, perspectives and life experience. This input can strengthen our work together!
Seating is limited and registration is required. The deadline to register is 6/28/2024.
When: Saturday, June 29th, 4:30-5:30pm. Doors open at 4pm.
Where: The Reality Center, 916 Lamond Ave, Durham, NC 27701
Accessibility: The Reality Center is accessible to wheelchair users. Sign Interpretation will be provided for the welcome and post discussion. Our team will make every effort to accommodate additional requests when possible. If required, please contact ShaLeigh Comerford at [email protected].
Parking: The Reality Center has a few allotted handicap parking spaces next to a ramped entryway. Parking is available free of charge in their attached parking lot (about 35 spots) to the rear of the building. Additionally there is nearby street parking.
