Electronic waste, or e-waste, is any electronic product that has reached the final phase of its life cycle and cannot be used anymore. The world produces 50 million tons of electronic waste a year, becoming the worldโs most quickly growing waste source. Sadly, no more than 20% of e-waste is properly recycled, with the other 80% being dumped in landfills or being unproperly recycled. If it is not properly recycled, E-Waste can have a negative impact on our environment by releasing toxins, heavy metals and pollution into the air, soil and water. It is also one of the leading causes of landfill fires.
