Art Therapy at Radiate Arts
Radiate Arts is happy to welcome you to participate in Art Therapy – run by University of Chester student and Trainee Art Therapist, Sasha. Sessions are free and welcome to all, and will start on Wednesday, November 13th at 10:30am-12:00pm, at Radiate Arts CIC off Nicholas Street Mews. Can’t make it to one? No problem, they will be running continuously from November 13th to December 11th.
Please book online if possible and see the full schedule as well as other free activities at radiatearts.co.uk.
Art therapy is a type of psychoanalytic therapy that uses art making as a way to connect and express different emotions that are sometimes difficult to explain or name. All sessions will be half art making and half time for discussion, where everyone is welcome to speak about their work in a safe, confidential space. All artworks created will be your own, and you are welcome to take your work home with you at the end of every session.
This session is:
-November 13th, Wednesday at 10:30-12:00.
Collage – You are welcome to cut and paste, creating your own imagery from pieces of magazines, artbooks, and other images you may like to bring in yourself. This is a mixed-media workshop, meaning there will be plenty of materials to use in your collage. Painting, pencils, and markers can be used as well as you paste your pieces. Everything is provided, but feel free to bring in your own material to cut up as well.

Ephemeral Sand Trays – Creating a work of art in sand that will be deconstructed at the end of the session. Using toys, figures, stones, random objects, and anything you might want to bring yourself. You will place these in soft, dry sand to explore emotions. Water may also be used in the trays are a thick plastic material. Sometimes it becomes a story with the pieces moving as you go, and sometimes it is a still image created with 3-dimensional objects. Explore inner emotions using the physical sensation of sand between your fingers. All materials are provided, and please feel free to bring personal objects if this interests you.
