Beginner-friendly, yoga, meditation, mindful dialogue, and community on green grass and under tall trees every Saturday. Every Body Welcome!
No special knowledge or experience needed. Come as you are. Wear comfortable clothing.
Hello! Tony here. I'm the practice leader for our Saturday practice, now in Season 7! I've been leading yoga and meditation practices here in Indianapolis since 2013 and have a daily meditation practice slightly older than that.
You are welcome to come and go as you like. We usually enjoy snacks, drinks, and friendship between yoga and meditation.
Yoga 8:30 - 9:30am: You can expect yoga to be at a relaxed pace with space to breathe and practice your way. I tend to mix in a little bit of qi gong, too. A few mats are available for you to borrow, but please bring your own if you have one, or enjoy practicing directly on the cool grass.
Meditation 10:00 - 10:35am: Our meditation practice is quiet, continually returning to ease in the body and ease in the breathing. In my experience, this is how the mud settles in the stream and I can see more clearly with the whole picture in focus. You are welcome to practice your Way as long as you help maintain a quiet practice space for the group. We practice seated for about 25 minutes, walk for about 5 minutes, and sit for about 5 more minutes.
Mindful Dialogue and Active Listening 10:40 - 10:50am: I facilitate either a paired or full group mindful listening and speaking exercise. Both are great practices that will improve every relationship in your life that involves communication, if you implement the practice. #sneakyb
Sharing and Discussion 10:50 - 11:30am: Share any questions, reflections, and observations and hear what others have to share. It's ok to just listen, too.
Walks on the third Saturday of ever month: On the third Saturday of every month, we offer a Mindful Nature Walk after yoga beginning at 10:00am instead of holding meditation and mindful dialogue. These are lovely walks with mindfulness activities facilitated by Marissa, Dustin, Katy, and me. RSVP for the Nature Walks at https://indycommunityyoga.org/walks
