Join leading fashion designer Linda Jackson AO for a talk about her artistic practice and the dynamic legacy of French artist, Sonia Delaunay (1885–1979).Linda Jackson’s bold silhouettes and prints reflect the Australian culture and landscape of the 1970s and 1980s, shaping the identity of Australian fashion. Her work has continued to influence new generations of fashion designers, including Anna Plunkett and Luke Sales from Romance Was Born.
Jackson will discuss her work displayed in the exhibition Know My Name: Kee, Jackson and Delaunay, reflecting on her formative partnership and friendship with Jenny Kee AO, and the impact of Delaunay’s practice on their work.
As well as working in traditional mediums such as painting and printmaking, Delaunay’s practice included textile, fashion, and theatre design.
Jackson and Kee’s, fascination with Delaunay’s patterns and costume designs influenced their own creative development during the 1970s and 1980s.
