The Red Room at Cafe 939 proudly presents Fresh Prospects, a free concert series spotlighting Boston’s emerging artists. Curated by Berklee students with an ear for talent, this series offers an intimate glimpse into the music scene’s future, featuring local performers making waves and capturing attention.Makena Tate is an indie-pop artist who captivates audiences with her striking vocals at every live performance. In 2023, she played 77 shows across three states, including a headlining set at Ventura Music Hall in Ventura, California. With festival appearances at North by Northeast and LAUNCH Music Conference and Festival in 2024, she’s now begun working on an album. Experimenting with a new breathy vocal delivery, she creates sultry, seductive indie-pop blended with her signature vulnerable and witty lyricism, elevating her sound to a refined level.
Born in Northern California and well-versed in confessional acoustic folk-indie pop, Chloe Borsody is a singer-songwriter and guitarist currently attending Berklee College of Music. Heavily influenced by artists such as Noah Kahan, NoSo, Joni Mitchell, and Gregory Alan Isakov, her fascination with language, compounded with her own need for catharsis through writing, generates songs that are too honest and practically tangible. Borsody's songwriting has earned her honorable mentions in both the National Association for Music Education Songwriting Competition and the international USA Songwriting Competition.
