Jenn Hilliard is an Associate Artist and our current Sketching Instructor and she's excited to lead an organic mini sketching workshop themed around one of our most beloved exhibitions, Flourish! This is our 4th Annual Flourish Exhibition and the entire exhibit is a collection of floral and botanical artworks from artists across the nation.
Jenn will have you explore the Main Gallery and find an artwork (or floral arrangement inspired by an artwork) that captures your interest and then you'll begin sketching in your very own mini-sketch journal. This is not a guided sketching workshop, but a chance to get loose with your creativity and enjoy the moment; Jenn will check in with each participant and offer some guidance or words of encouragement throughout the free hour-long session.
All supplies included (participants will each receive a mini-sketch journal that they will be able to take home).
This workshop is free and open to the public, but your RSVP gives us an idea on what to expect! We accept walk-ins and RSVPs, but all spaces are first come, first served - an RSVP does not guarantee your space. Please arrive on time.
With help from the City of Norfolk and their Program for Improving Capacity and Capability (PICC) Grant, the d'Art Center is able to bring back free programming for our community, but we need your help to gather information required by the grant to meet our goal in Connecting the Community with the Visual Arts. Before the activity begins, attendees will be asked to fill out a Participation Card that includes questions such as age range, zip code, etc.
