FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC: On Saturday, Feb. 22 at 7:00 pm (doors at 6:30), High Country Humanities presents “Documenting Our Common Humanity,” a coda to the BooneDocs Film Festival that will feature local filmmakers’ work. Inspired by the unity and resourcefulness of Western North Carolinians in the wake of Hurricane Helene, this year’s films showcase resilience and people working together to respond to environmental challenges.
The various films to be screened include Beth Davison’s “We Begin Again at 9:30” (10 minutes), which shows the Todd community’s response to Helene, and a film by Anne Ward and Chip Williams titled “Blue Ridge Women in Agriculture: Farm, Food & Community” (22 minutes), which explores the twenty-year development of local food pathways in Watauga, Ashe, and Avery counties.
Although the BooneDocs Film Festival requires a ticket for entry, NO TICKET IS NECESSARY FOR THIS FREE EVENING EVENT. Doors open at 7, and patrons will be seated on a first come, first served basis.
