Free Fiddle & Banjo Workshop

Join us for a FREE fiddle and banjo workshop, hosted by Cleveland's own Paul Kirk and Stephen Rapp!
In the early days of Appalachian folk music, the core instruments were banjo and fiddle. European dance melodies played on fiddle combined with African rhythms and syncopation on banjo and created a unique and distinct American sound.
Using a casual conversational format, Paul and Stephen will teach the tune "Old Yeller Dog Came Trottin' Through the Meeting House" and discuss the interplay of fiddle and banjo.
Open to fiddle and banjo players who have a good, basic knowledge of their instrument. Traditional fiddlers and classical violinists are welcome and encouraged to attend.
This event is presented thanks to generous funding from Ohio Arts Council, Cuyahoga Arts & Culture, and the William O. and Gertrude Lewis Frohring Foundation.
