We’re inviting the community to drop off unwanted batteries and small electronic waste during our E-waste and Battery Amnesty Day. We’ll be accepting regular household battery types, including lead-acid, lithium-ion, button and standard household batteries (AA, AAA, etc.). Please ensure all battery terminals are taped before drop-off.If you have damaged, swollen or leaking batteries or battery-powered devices (such as cellphones or laptops), please handle them carefully, wear gloves and let staff know when you arrive so they can be managed safely.
We are also accepting domestic e-waste items such as cellphones, laptops, and small household appliances with cords or batteries. Unfortunately, we cannot accept fridges, industrial equipment or medical equipment not designed for domestic use.
Drop-off is free for residents within the Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Local Board area. Please bring proof of address. If you’re outside this area, standard disposal rates apply (see our website for details).
