About this Event
This workshop details the risks associated with internet browsing, such as data theft, fraud, and malicious software that can harm devices or steal information. It also identifies various web security tools that, when used correctly, enable private and secure browsing. Our goal is for participants to understand these risks and take precautions to protect their personal data while navigating online.
Learning Objectives:
- Equip participants with tools for secure browsing: Learn to identify and understand threats like data theft, fraud, phishing, and malicious software. Participants will gain knowledge of various security tools and practices, including how to identify secure websites (HTTPS), differentiate between public and private Wi-Fi, and enable pop-up blockers
- Promote awareness of digital footprints and online privacy: Participants will understand what a digital footprint is, why it is important, and how to manage their personal information shared online, including clearing cookies and browsing history.
- Foster safe online habits through practical tips and activities: Participants will learn practical tips to avoid scams, respond to malware, and maintain online safety, reinforced through interactive activities like analyzing phishing attempts and practicing privacy settings.
