About this Event

Join us at the Rahway Public Library for a community screening and discussion surrounding the documentary film A Race to the Reckoning
A Race to the Reckoning is a 55-minute social impact documentary narrated by the symbolic voice of Lady Liberty. It explores how America’s racial myths—from slavery through mass incarceration—continue to trap returning citizens in cycles of punishment after they have been released from J*il or Pr*son.
Told through the raw and reflective voices of formerly incarcerated men, the film breaks through public silence, spotlighting how criminalized survival, isolation, and political exclusion fuel recidivism-repeat criminal behavior. The narrative centers around healing, truth-telling, and reclaiming freedom—both personal and systemic.
A Race to the Reckoning is the vision of Asia E. Marche, a professional actress, producer, and community development consultant whose work bridges the worlds of storytelling, urban planning, and systemic advocacy. The film draws authenticity and influence from a national network of over 40 contributors, including formerly incarcerated artists, educators, faith leaders, public servants, therapists, and organizers—many of whom have lived through the very barriers the film exposes.
The screening will begin at 12:00pm and will be followed by a community talkback surrounding the film and the following topics: the power of storytelling, justice in the classroom, NJ Governor's Election, and race & identity. We're excited to see you for a day of education and discussion at the Rahway Public Library!
