Welcome to Central TexasTuesday, November 12th at 10 am
Presented by Diane Wigington
Cultivating plants in Central Texas can be both fulfilling and challenging, particularly for those accustomed to a different growing climate. It is essential to recognize that even if the recommended planting zones are similar, the same familiar plants may not thrive in this region. To ensure a successful gardening experience in Central Texas, it is crucial to gather helpful tips, learn best practices, and steer clear of common pitfalls.
About the speaker:
Diane and her husband moved from Calgary, Canada to Austin 34 years ago. She comes from a long line of gardeners but was shocked to find out that very few plants that she grew up with survive in Central Texas. Not only that, but planting perennials in fall was entirely foreign to her! She found The Natural Gardener's owner, John Dromgoole's radio show and faithfully listened every weekend. She now works at his nursery and is currently landscaping her third Central Texas garden, continuously trying to live peacefully with the many deer in her neighborhood.
