Cooking and Eating for Heart Health
Why is focusing on heart health important? Heart disease is the number 1 cause of death for men and women in America. High blood pressure, high cholesterol, and smoking are risk factors for heart disease. About half of Americans have at least one of these risk factors. Additional risk factors like type 2 diabetes, being overweight, having an unhealthy diet and being inactive are factors we can change. Eating more plant foods has been shown to significantly reduce these risk factors. Join Bettina Jones, Registered Dietitian from Corewell Health’s Lifestyle Medicine program to learn more about how you can use food as medicine to help prevent, manage, and even reverse heart disease.
