About this Event
July 2024 was the 400th anniversary of the birth of George Fox, the founder of Quakerism.
In continuing his legacy, we will explore his writings, as edited and translated by Rex Ambler. Together we will honor the insights of their book, Truth of the Heart, in an event in which audience interaction is central.
As Ambler says in the introduction, reading Fox and creating this compilation of highlights gave him a great insight into the founder of Quakerism. We see how Fox was a catalyst for a new kind of spiritual practice, of collective meditation. Fox helped to shape the cultivation of an intimate relationship with our own divine inner light, and a deeper way of living with the mission of peace and nonviolence. Quakerism includes the communal work of sitting and sharing together–a form of spiritual praxis.
We will together read passages of the book, interact with them, meditate, worship, share, and listen in silence to how Fox, at age 400, still has the life and the power to move us.The book Truth of the Heart is well worth your time.
We will have the book available for sale, or trade (bring a book to swap!) while supplies last.
A complimentary light lunch will be served at 12:30pm in the Common Room prior to the program start.
This will be a hybrid event - For those joining via Zoom, here's the link and info:
