Keen to play your first gig but don’t know where to start? Played a couple of gigs with other bands but never organised one yourself?
Trying to get in touch with venues but not hearing back?
Darkroom's free, informal, peer-run artist development sessions are back! Come along on Thurs March 13th for a session on How to Book a Gig!
The speakers for this session include venue owner Feather Shaw, sound person & musician Steffi Brightwell, and musician, band manager & NZ Music Commission Intern Stassi Naylor. They'll talk you through ways to run a smooth, successful gig, including what makes things easy from the perspective of the venue and sound person. Plus they'll give you tips on finding support acts, great things to ask before the gig, promo tips, and give you the run down on what to expect on the day of your gig.
Whether you're brand new to gigging, or have been gigging for a while but want to scrub up on your admin and promo skills, come along, you might learn something new, or if you're an old pro you might have some knowledge to share with others.
