FREE ACTING WORKSHOP for English Speakers: Stanislavski, Chekhov & Emotional IntelligenceAt our Acting School, the training is based on two of the most influential figures in modern acting: Constantin Stanislavski and Michael Chekhov! Each brings a unique, yet complementary approach to the craft of acting. We therefore invite ALL of you to our OPEN (FREE) TRIAL CLASS, on Thursday, October 02, 2025, from 20:00 to 22:00, where you will:
1) Discover how the combination of Stanislavski’s System and Michael Chekhov’s Method provides a complete and balanced approach to actor training.
2) Receive information about:

📣 Our PLANS for the new group being formed
📣 And finally, our GOALS for the upcoming season
💡 IMPORTANT: The FREE class applies only to those participating in our workshops for the FIRST TIME! (The trial class is NOT charged if the prospective student decides not to continue attending the classes. If he or she decides to stay in the group after the trial lesson, the class is charged normally.)

(For those using public transport: the Acting Studio is 10 minutes by bus (#224) from Evangelismos Metro Station. You should get off at the so-called “10th” Kaisariani bus stop, which is in front of the “AB Supermarket”)

🌀 CURRICULUM
The Acting Workshop includes a wide range of topics such as:
Acting, Improvisation, Theatre Games, Connectivity and Communication Exercises, as well as Empathy and Mindfulness Development Exercises, all based on the Stanislavski System and the Michael Chekhov Method. All these skills help cultivate our Emotional Intelligence, making us not only more convincing on stage, but also more effective communicators in general!
🎭 FROM TRUTH TO IMAGINATION:
The Power of Stanislavski & Chekhov
🔹 Constantin Stanislavski (1863–1938)
Russian actor and director who laid the foundation for modern acting. His System helps the actor live the role with emotional truth and psychological depth.
📌 Key principles include:
● Emotional truth – Authentic emotions and motivations
● Given circumstances – Who am I? Where am I? What do I want?
● Objectives & actions – What the character is pursuing
● The “Magic If” – The question: “What would I do if I were in this situation?” which sparks real emotional responses
● Inner connection – Living the role, not just “playing” it
✨ His work became the foundation for most Western acting techniques, including Method Acting (Marlon Brando, James Dean, Al Pacino, Meryl Streep, Robert De Niro, Jack Nicholson, etc.).
🔹 Michael Chekhov (1891–1955)
Nephew of Anton Chekhov and student of Stanislavski, he developed a method that emphasizes imagination, physicality, and creativity.
📌 Key elements of his method include:
● Psychological Gesture – A physical movement that expresses the character’s inner essence
● Imaginative acting – Creating vivid characters beyond personal experience
● Atmosphere – Perceiving the emotional mood of the scene
● Energy projection – Expressing inner emotions through physical clarity and focus
✨ His technique enables actors to deliver intense, emotionally charged performances while maintaining a healthy psychological distance from the role.
✅ Why Both?
Together, their teachings perfectly complement each other, offering a complete training of body, emotion, and imagination. Stanislavski teaches actors to build inner emotional truth, while Chekhov empowers them to express that truth outwardly, through imagination and movement.
Combined, these two methods offer a full-spectrum approach:

🎯 WHO IS THIS WORKSHOP FOR?
This WORKSHOP is open to EVERYONE:
Professional and amateur actors, drama school students, and also theatre lovers who wish to explore the "secrets" of the acting craft. Let us clarify: It is NOT a requirement to have previous experience or studies in theatre to join our acting group. The principles of the Stanislavski System and the techniques of Michael Chekhov are not limited to stage performance — they have broader applications in our daily lives and are relevant and beneficial to everyone — such as, teachers, lawyers, doctors, etc., including people of ALL ages.
The goal is to become more effective communicators through a variety of theatre-based exercises in: Self-awareness (the ancient Greek “Know Thyself”), Self-esteem, Self-confidence,
Free expression, etc. Finally, I would like to emphasize that in our Acting Workshop, we learn to love, respect, and accept others — and most importantly, ourselves. In doing so, we can confront our fears and insecurities more effectively. In short, theatre is a form of psychotherapy. It helps us not only in our personal growth, but also in our social and professional lives!
🎓 GEORGE KASTROUNIS, Acting Coach, Artistic Director & Instructor
🧾 RÉSUMÉ
George Kastrounis is a Greek-American Acting Coach born in Alexandria, Egypt. He studied Economics (Bachelor of Arts) in England at Kingston University. He then pursued postgraduate studies in Economics (Master of Arts) at the London School of Economics in England and at the New School for Social Research in New York. However, his passion for the theater led him to study Acting and Directing at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York, where actors such as Robert Redford, Kirk Douglas, Danny DeVito, and John Cassavetes studied. He continued his studies at North Dakota State University in the USA, where he earned a Master of Arts degree in Theater Arts.
In addition to acting and directing, George Kastrounis has written plays performed by university theater groups, as well as amateur and professional troupes in the U.S. and Greece. He has participated in theatrical productions as an actor and director, and appeared in films and television series. In the winter of 2018, he produced and directed his own play, “The Absent God” (ΘΕΟΣ ΑΠΩΝ), at the "Imeras Theater" (Θέατρο της Ημέρας) in Athens, and in June 2022, he wrote, directed, and produced a collection of five one-act plays under the uniform title, “CASUS BELLI”, at the “Paramythias Theater” in Athens, for which, in a nationwide playwriting competition, received, from the Screenwriters Guild of Greece, first prize for best original play.
In 2009, he realized a lifelong dream by founding the “Actors in Action - American Acting Studio” both for children and adults, in Kesariani (Facebook page: www.facebook.com/actorsinaction). Following that, he founded in 2014 his own publishing house, Amphitheater Publications.
Finally, in 2019, he created the “EQ Fitness Program,” a series of experiential seminars aimed at the development, empowerment, and training of Emotional Intelligence through selected acting exercises based on the Stanislavski System and the Michael Chekhov Method [Facebook Page: www.facebook.com/EQ-Fitness-Program-363709850843418].
