At Avondale Library, Wei, one of our friendly Compost Collective facilitators, will run this fun, interactive worm farming workshop for kids and whānau. Dive into the fascinating world of tiger worms and discover how these tiny composting heroes turn food scraps into fertiliser for your plants. There’ll be plenty of wiggly worm fun and interactive activities for the whole whānau! Perfect for kids aged 5 and above.
To help you on your way, all confirmed workshop participants get a 50% discount voucher to order a compost system through our website and we’ll deliver it straight to your door. Plus, you’ll also receive a free rat trap to help keep pests under control!
This workshop is designed for children aged 5 and above and their caregivers. Please register one ticket per child and one ticket per adult (with your email address to enable you receive the discount voucher). Each child must be accompanied by one adult. Please bring a few small cut pieces of fruit peels (no citrus) or vegetable peels (no onion and chilly please) if you’d like to feed the worms.
This workshop is part of EcoFest 2026, a month-long celebration of Tāmaki Makaurau’s unique environment and the ways we care for it.
This workshop is proudly supported by Auckland Council, Avondale Library and brought to you by the Compost Collective.
