Join us for the release show of Freddy Ruppert's new album "It's In The Rafters Now" out on Brachliegen Tapes. The release is accompanied by an A/V piece that will also be performed in full at this show. The album is a very personal collection of pieces about attempting to retrieve childhood memories through the death of the artist's own father. We are also honored to welcome GbClifford and Hiding Season.
GbClifford, who the following night will perform the release show of their new record, will join us at Punctum to perform a very special ambient set specific to this show and its mood.
Freddy Ruppert (ex Former Ghosts, This Song Is A Mess but So Am I) works with FM synthesis, textures, samples, and melodic ambience to explore the concepts of grief, memory, and the shifting and unreliable nature of memory in the face of loss. He often presents these themes within the realm of faux cinematic world building.
(Goodbye Clifford. I'll be missing you. Though I don't remember you much. I can only imagine how beautiful it would be if I could remember just a bit of our memories.) Expressing unfulfilled wishes, accepting its own wounds and getting used to the present self. The project became a place to express oneself with no boundaries and many personal lines being crossed. Music is a tool to feel compassion.
hiding season focuses on working with layering and processing field recordings, synthesizers, sound design, and vocals. Her sonic acrobatics balance on the edge of dissonance and reflect sonically overwhelmed cities. She is a member of the favu label collective and performs in the band Keiko Sei.
