Synopsis:
Fred, Ted, Jack & Harold by internationally acclaimed playwright Matt Fox is the darkest of dark comedies, featuring a selection of infamous characters, in a familiar world turned on its head.
Eternity working in an office…it’s the nightmare that every desk jockey finds themselves in…watching their precious lives slip by in a haze of emails, conference calls and soul crushing boredom.
Fred, Ted, Jack & Harold are four such people…or at least they think so.
CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:
We are seeking six versatile actors (playing ages 30s–60s) with impeccable comedic timing and the ability to pivot instantly from corporate banality to intense emotional distress.
• FRED: (Male, 40s/50s) Dark haired. Broad Gloucestershire accent, office worker
Authoritative, desperate to maintain order, but cracking under the pressure of his own history.
• TED: (Male, 30s/40s) Dark haired. Good looking, Soft American accent, office worker
High-energy and cynical. Uses humor as a shield for his depravity.
• JACK: (Female, 20s) London accent, office worker
The most ostensibly "normal" of the group, making his eventual revelations all the more jarring.
• HAROLD: (Male, 50s) Bearded, Light Yorkshire accent, office worker
The veteran of the room. He understands the rules of their torment better than anyone else.
• LIZ – (Female, 30s) The "Office Manager" who is as well-spoken as she is wicked.
Polished, professional exterior while actively psychologically tormenting the employees, acting as the primary enforcer of their tailored purgatory.
• MYRA (Female, 20s) Liz's Personal Assistant, often described as her "toy-thing".
Manchester accent and serves as a sharp, younger foil to Liz, assisting in the mental games played on Fred, Ted, Jack, and Harold.
