About this Event
Prepare for an unforgettable night of jazz at Twickenham Jazz Club, as the Fraser Urquhart Band takes the stage with their dynamic and soulful sound.
Led by Fraser Urquhart, one of the UK’s leading jazz pianists, this ensemble will deliver a performance that showcases both the elegance and energy of jazz, all with a nod to the golden era of American show tunes.
Fraser Urquhart, praised by Jamie Cullum for his “extremely tasty sound at the piano,” brings his deep knowledge of jazz history to every performance. His unfailing elegance and impressive improvisational skills, developed over years of performing at iconic venues like Ronnie Scott’s and Pizza Express Jazz Club, make him a standout in today’s jazz scene.
Joining him is Pete Horsfall, an award-winning trumpeter and vocalist who has captivated audiences worldwide. With a career that spans performances at the Royal Albert Hall, Lincoln Center, and Ronnie Scott’s, Pete’s charismatic presence and distinctive sound will bring a rich, melodic layer to the evening.
On bass is Matyas Hofecker, one of Europe’s finest young jazz bassists. Having shared the stage with legends like Harold Mabern and Sheila Jordan, Matyas brings a deep, resonant groove, inspired by the likes of Paul Chambers and George Duvivier, that will anchor the quartet’s sound with rhythmic precision.
Having spent over 25 years in New York at the invitation of legendary saxophonist Lew Tabackin, Drummer Mark Taylor, built an illustrious career playing alongside jazz icons such as Joe Henderson, Chet Baker, George Coleman, Roy Hargrove, Woody Shaw, and Anita O’Day—just to name a few. His remarkable ability to create intensity at any dynamic level has earned him high praise, with Tabackin himself remarking, “There isn’t another drummer since Billy Higgins who can adapt…and create intensity at any dynamic level.”
Together, this talented group will create a vibrant mix of improvisation and musical storytelling, exploring timeless jazz standards and some unexpected gems. With their impeccable chemistry and shared passion for straight-ahead jazz, the Fraser Urquhart Band promises to deliver a night of toe-tapping tunes and soulful melodies.
Don’t miss the chance to experience this thrilling live performance—guaranteed to lift your spirits and fill the room with swinging, unforgettable jazz.
