About this Event
Join us for a FrankTALK with poet Leah Kaminsy, in celebration of the release of Disorders of the Blood.
In Disorders of the Blood, Leah Kaminsky uses blood as a visceral and evocative metaphor to represent the myriad of human experiences. From the beginning of life to the final hours of death – and all the moments of beauty, fragility and wonder in between – each poem takes the reader on an evocative journey through the tapestry of human existence.
Disorders of the Blood is a profoundly beautiful exploration of our own mortality. And of Mother Earth’s despair. Kaminsky hones her physician’s gaze with scalpel-like precision and probes the secrets at the very heart of our body and soul. By lowering her doctor’s mask, she foregrounds torment as well as resilience, creating a powerful and graceful elegy to both the living and the dead.
