Fall Fest: Noon to 4:00, Saturday, Sept. 27It’s time for the annual Fall Fest, a free family event hosted by the Franklin Historical Society! Join us at Lions Legend Park by the City Hall to experience what it was like to live in Franklin back in the late 1800’s.
The Apple Princess, from our friends at Fairytale Birthday Company, will be there for picture taking from 1:00-3:00.
There will be free apples and cider to enjoy while you chat with the docents in costume as they demonstrate many of the trades prevalent at the time. Play period games with the teacher in the one-room school house. Visit the City Hall to see demonstrations of loom weaving, quilting, and sewing with a 75-year-old sewing machine. Don’t forget to check out the amazing model train display in the basement. The smell of the chicken cooking over an open fire in the 1836 cabin will draw you in where old-time wool spinning and rug hooking will be taking place. Stop by the barn to try your hand at the two-person saw and witness rope making and black smithing.
Bring your appetite as this year there will also be a pie eating contest! All this and more await you at Franklin Historical Park, 8060 S. Legend Dr.
