About this Event
Together with 8 strangers, this Franglais Dinner Party is all about bringing together creative, curious, and compassionate professionals in Paris who want to make more meaningful connections. Paris is a beautiful city, but it can be hard to make meaningful friendships.
Why? The language barrier.
Why else? Cities can be lonely places.
I've found a solution. 🥰
My name is Olive and I believe that laughter is the shortest distance between two people.
For a couple of years now, I've been designing creative, human-centered experiences that put language and laughter at the centre of human connection.
This Franglais Dinner Party is everyone. 🇫🇷
It's about creating words for all the funny things that happen in France, but we don't have a single word to capture their quirkiness. It's about exploring untranslatable words, which help us to really dive deeper into French culture.
Whether you are a total beginner in French, or are advanced but struggling with confidence, this dinner party is for you.
Timings: 19:30 - 21:30
Place: Hoxton, Paris
We will start the evening with creative introductions so that everyone can get to know one another. Then, throughout the dinner party, we will play several rounds of Private Joke ® in Franglais for you to giggle your way through the night. The dinner party will finish at 9:30pm, but you are welcome to head onto bars with the other attendees if the night takes you there.
Please note we have added a non-redundable registration fee due to the high demand of these dinner parties, as well as to cover the cost of resources.
This Franglais Dinner Party is hosted by Olive Halsall, an expert in creative multilingualism. The Founder of Olea Education, Olive has hosted numerous dinner parties around the world, helping strangers in cities to connect with one another through the beauty of language. She holds an MPhil from the University of Cambridge and speaks English, French & Mandarin.
