On Sunday February 26 at 4pm, Ron McEntire will perform the final three chorals of César Franck (1822-1890). Ron hadintended to play entirety of Franck’s canon for Organ in 2022
(the 200th anniversary of his birth), but his cancer diagnosis prevented these plans. As is his custom, he will play these last three from memory —including a piece that he has never played before. Proceeds from this concert and gifts from the congregation will create the Canon Ron McEntire Fund at St. Luke’s Church.
This fund, at the discretion of the Vestry, will support two goals close to Ron’s heart. 1) For at least the next 10 years, it will generate an annual scholarship award to aspiring church musicians. 2) If and when the time comes for the organ to be re-leathered this will fund will serve as seed fund to launch that campaign. If you’d like to participate, you can make a check payable to “St. Luke’s” with Canon Ron McEntire on the memo line.
