Division 9 AOH was at the forefront raising awareness and funds to support the families of the Fort Worth 5, and
other Irish Republican causes in the 1970’s and throughout the troubles.
Division 9, NY County is one of the oldest AOH Divisions in the United States. We were founded around 1837 but
disbanded in 1941 with many of our members in the military with the onset of World War II. The Division was
reorganized in 1948 mainly with NYC transit workers out of the Garage at 129th and Amsterdam Avenue. For
many years we have been referred to as “the bus drivers Division”. Our charter was issued by the National Board
of the AOH on November 30, 1949.
