The Francis-Lee Duo returns once again to captivate audiences at the Waiheke Musical Museum in May 2024. Renowned for their honest and engaging performances, the Duo brings their passion for chamber music to life with a new programme spanning over a century of music. The centrepiece of the programme is the legendary Polish musician Paderewski’s Violin Sonata in A minor, Op.13. This compelling work will be performed on the 1897 Bechstein Concert Grand piano, previously played by Paderewski himself during his Australasian Tour in 1904.

Charlotte Francis (violin) grew up in Brisbane and began learning violin and piano from the age of five. She holds a Bachelor of Music (Honours) from the University of Auckland and a PhD in Classics from the University of Otago. She has performed both as solo and ensemble performer throughout New Zealand and taught violin for the Marama Strings Project. Charlotte currently manages a busy violin studio in Royal Oak.
Born in South Korea and raised in New Zealand, Gemma Lee (piano) is a collaborative pianist with a Master of Music (First Class Honours) from the University of Auckland. She has performed in venues across the United Kingdom and Europe, including at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and the Goldener Saal of the Vienna Musikverein. A firm believer in the power of music education for all-round development, Gemma currently manages Lewis Eady Music School which delivers music lessons to up to 1,000 students across Auckland and Wellington.
