A major French singer-songwriter, Francis Cabrel has sold more than 25 million records thanks to his sophisticated, sensitive and poetic style. His song "Petite Marie," inspired by his wife, won a radio talent contest and caught the attention of CBS Records, which in 1977 released his first album, Les Murs de Poussière. In 1979, his second album, Les Chemins de Traverse, which includes the hit "Je l'aime à mourir," was a resounding success. 1980 saw the release of the album Fragile and the triumph of “La Dame de Haute-Savoie” and “L’encre de tes yeux.”
His eighth album, 1984’s Samedi soir sur la Terre, sold more than 3 million copies. It includes the now classic titles "La corrida," "La cabane du pêcheur," "Je t’aimais, je t’aime, je t’aimerai" and "Octobre."
Cabrel’s 14th studio album, 2020’s À l'aube revenant, is a tribute to troubadours who have influenced him. He followed the album’s release with the Trobador Tour, during which he recorded a 31-track live album released in December 2021.
Cabrel is a fundamental French artist who combines commercial success, humility and artistic demand. He has remained true to his musical and personal convictions. This authentic artist and his repertoire captivate French and French-speaking audiences around the world.
