About this Event
We are delighted to welcome Francesca May and Mark A. Latham to Waterstones Nottingham to celebrate the release of This Vicious Hunger and The Last Vigilant. They will be in conversation with Mike Brooks.
A haunting, heady slice of romantasy at its most beguiling, This Vicious Hunger finds recently widowed Thora Grieve becoming a student of botany under a bewitching professor who leads her into a world of beauty, poison and obsession.
The Last Vigilant begins an epic fantasy trilogy where legends are forged and re-forged, where the line between ally and enemy is razor thin, and where the only thing holding the darkness of monsters and men at bay are the few who choose to stand fast.
Francesca and Mark will discuss their new books before an audience Q&A and book signing.
Francesca May grew up in the middle of England where she spent her childhood devouring fantasy books and brewing potions in her back garden. She currently lives in Derby with her family, three giant dogs and two black cats. By day she works as a bookseller at Waterstones. By night she accidentally kills every house plant she touches and writes novels about gothic mansions, witchcraft and queer love.
Mark A. Latham is a writer, editor, history nerd, frustrated grunge singer, and amateur baker from Staffordshire, UK. An immigrant to rural Nottinghamshire, he lives with his wife and dog in a very old house (sadly not haunted), and is still regarded in the village as a foreigner. Formerly the editor of Games Workshop's White Dwarf magazine, Mark writes for tabletop and video games, and is an author of strange, fantastical and macabre tales.
Mike Brooks was born in Ipswich, Suffolk and now lives in Nottingham with his wife, cats, snakes, and a collection of tropical fish. He worked for a homelessness charity for over fifteen years, before deciding that he preferred making up stories for a living. When not writing, he plays guitar with his punk band and DJs wherever anyone will tolerate him. He is the author of three science fiction novels, Dark Run, Dark Sky and Dark Deeds, and various works for Games Workshop's Black Library.
