The frame drum is an ancient and sacred instrument found all across the Mediterranean and middle eastern regions. Along with many other features, it is a perfect drum to sing with and to work on percussive skills in general. In this course, I follow a ‘body to drum’ approach to learning. The inclusion of stepping patterns and vocalisations into the learning experience allows us to integrate the rhythmic patterns more deeply and to create a strong relationship with the instrument. Time: Thursdays 6:30pm - 8:00pm
Cost: (5 week block) $150
Venue: Purusha House, 18 Holdsworth St, Fremantle

I will have suitable frame drums available for use in the class which can optionally be purchased. Please note that the thick hided ‘buffalo’ or ‘medicine drums’, which are usually played with a mallet, are not really suitable for this finger style of playing. Feel free to contact me for any queries.
